Australia has both public and private schools, and the system is slightly different from other countries. Public schools are free but may require some additional costs for uniforms and supplies. The first step is finding your local school – some areas have school catchment zones, meaning the closest school to your home is the one you’ll likely need to apply for. Once you’ve got the right school, enrolment forms are easy to fill out online. It’s also a good idea to attend an open day or meet the teachers beforehand to ease your kids into the new environment. Being a part of the school community is another advantage that schools can make for you. Participate in their events, programs and give back to little kids.
